Actual Facts. No Fiction.
Introducing a Hip Hop newsletter for Rap fans who actually like words.
You are now witnessing the strength of street knowledge and suburban wordplay. This is Actual Facts: The Hip Hop Newsletter. All the Hip Hop happenings will be coming to your email inbox every month.
Who am I?
My name is Christopher Mitchell, also known as K.I.N.E.T.I.K., and I’m an Audio Producer, Musician and Writer born with a North West London state of mind. I fell in love with Hip Hop when I first saw Kris Kross in 1992 (more on that later), and I’ve been on it ever since. Actually, I spent many of my teen years thinking I could be a part of the Wu-Tang Clan.
I know people love to ask who my favourite rappers and albums and whatnot, but stay tuned to the newsletter, because I’ll be sharing more about my tastes and obsessions in the coming weeks and months. Opinions can be a recipe for disaster, but I ike to stir the pot sometimes.
As an independent Hip Hop artist, I’ve released over fifteen solo and group projects, rocked stages internationally in Europe and the US, and my music has been used by global brands like BBC, ESPN, Hennessy, McDonald’s, WWE and VICELAND.
I’m also the Co-Host of Breaking Atoms, a critically acclaimed Hip Hop podcast launched in 2018. Alongside Sumit Sharma, we travel through the Rap ecosystem, exploring a mix of deep dives and low-end theories. We’ve interviewed pioneers and future legends, including Pete Rock, Mic Geronimo, DJ Spinna, O.C., MC Eiht, Evidence, Blu and Exile, Masta Ace, J. Rawls, Buckwild and Kurupt.
Breaking Atoms has previously been ranked a Top 20 Music History podcast by Apple and featured in Music Week, Pitchfork, The Independent and HHDX. Complex named the show a “music podcast you need in your life”, and the good folks at Uproxx said the show is an “essential Hip Hop podcast to listen to".
So, talk to me nice…
Why am I writing this newsletter?
For years, friends and family have been telling me that I needed to start writing again. So after spending most of 2025 plotting and planning in Parts Unknown, here it is. A Hip Hop newsletter written from someone who lives, learns and loves music. No gimmicks. No clickbait. No spam.
Why should you subscribe?
Every month, I’ll hit you with the following in one tidy email:
Art Of Facts
An introspective thought or disgruntled rambling on something Hip Hop related.
Random Facts
Useless Rap trivia for you to use and show off with at your next party or when you stagger in the gathering.
Forgotten Facts
Questions about missing Hip Hop artists or albums; for example, what happened to the Fab 5 album? Seriously, what happened?
New Old Facts
If you like obscure, overlooked, forgotten and out-of-print Rap albums, I’ve got you.
Bu-bu-bu-but wait, it gets worse! I’ll also drop some carefully chopped and crafted selection of original articles, playlists, and dive into Hip Hop history, culture and current conversations. Whether it’s exploring overlooked moments, revisiting classic records, or highlighting new and important voices, Actual Facts is designed to keep you informed so you can body the next barbershop music debate.
So many heads have told me that they don’t have time to check for new music, and they don’t really know what’s going on. They’ve got jobs, families and kids to raise, so listening to the latest Roc Marciano on release day is not a priority. Money haffi mek. I get it. So, this newsletter will kill all the noise, cool down the hot takes and keep it real in the feel with relevant information, insightful thoughts and inappropriate humour.
All fun and jokes aside, if you’ve heard me on Breaking Atoms, you know I deal with clarity and context. This newsletter will be no different. Like my guy Apollo Brown says, “same chef, different restaurant”. Spread the word and share with your people who love real music and good writing.
The first edition of the Actual Facts newsletter drops on Wednesday, 17th September 2025.
With that said, every newsletter needs theme music, so here’s mine…
